Milan Fight Back From Two Down to Draw 2-2 With Lazio
Milan came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Lazio, with Diego Moreira scoring twice in two minutes after Cancellieri and Noslin had put the hosts ahead.
In a fine and exciting Serie A fixture, the "Calcio", the meeting brought together Lazio and Milan in a strong and competitive encounter that saw big swings in the scoreline right up to the final minutes.
Lazio start strongly and Cancellieri opens the scoring
Lazio entered the match strongly and managed to open the scoring early through Matteo Cancellieri in the tenth minute, after a pass from Mattia Zaccagni, with the hosts keeping up their pressure and control over the run of play in search of extending their lead and collecting three important points to help them keep competing near the top of the table.
A league of heavyweights
Serie A is known for its strength and the difficulty of its competition, especially with the presence of many big clubs fighting for the title, foremost among them Inter, Milan, Napoli and Juventus, alongside strong sides such as Roma and Lazio, which makes dropping any points a real setback in the race.
Noslin doubles Lazio's lead before half-time
Back to the run of play, Lazio maintained their advantage and managed to score a second goal in the 39th minute through Tijjani Noslin, and the first half ended with the hosts two goals up, 2-0.
Moreira changes the game off the bench
But football does not recognise the result before the final whistle, and that was clear in the second half. Milan's coach made attacking changes, most notably the introduction of Diego Moreira, who turned the match on its head.
In the 65th minute, Moreira reduced the deficit for Milan, before the same player returned just two minutes later, in the 67th minute, to score the second and hand his team a 2-2 draw amid huge celebrations from the Rossoneri players and fans.
A point apiece, with different flavours
With this thrilling draw, Lazio dropped two precious points after having led by two goals, while Milan claimed a precious point after trailing by two, succeeding in coming back from afar thanks to the brilliance of Diego Moreira, who scored twice in the space of just two minutes.
The table after the match
In terms of the league standings after the game, Lazio moved to 10 points at the top of the table, while Milan sat fifth on 8 points. The draw felt like a moral victory for Milan, whose fans had almost lost hope of taking anything from the game, before the team produced a strong comeback and snatched a precious point at Lazio's ground.
