Germany Complete a Perfect EuroBasket: Schröder Seals 88-83 Final Win Over Turkey

Germany went 9-0 to win FIBA EuroBasket 2025, beating Turkey 88-83 in a Riga thriller as Dennis Schröder's clutch late scoring sealed a first title since 1993.

Germany are the champions of Europe. On 14 September 2025 in Riga, the reigning world champions held off a relentless Turkey side 88-83 to win FIBA EuroBasket 2025 and finish the tournament with a flawless 9-0 record. It is Germany's second continental crown and their first since 1993.

A final that went to the wire

The gold-medal game at Arena Riga was decided in the closing minutes of a tense, see-saw contest packed with lead changes and ties. Turkey, unbeaten themselves until the final, refused to go away, but Germany found the composure they needed down the stretch.

Captain Dennis Schröder delivered the decisive blows late, driving for the go-ahead basket inside the final minute and then icing the game from the free-throw line. It was the clutch finish of a player who had carried Germany all summer.

Germany's balanced attack

There was no single hero, Germany won the way they had all tournament, by sharing the load:

  • Isaac Bonga, 20 points, 5 rebounds, named Player of the Game
  • Franz Wagner, 18 points
  • Dennis Schröder, 16 points, 12 assists

Bonga, often the quiet man of this roster, produced the biggest scoring night of the trio, while Schröder's double-double orchestrated the offence from start to finish.

Turkey fall just short

Turkey were superb in defeat. Alperen Şengün was the game's top scorer with 28 points, Cedi Osman added 23, and Shane Larkin contributed 13 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds. Silver is still a landmark: it was Turkey's first EuroBasket final since 2001, and they left Riga with an 8-1 record and plenty of belief for the future.

A golden generation

The title completes a remarkable double for this German team. They arrived in Latvia as the reigning FIBA World Cup champions, having won that title in 2023, and now add the European crown to it. Schröder, the MVP of both tournaments, has cemented his place at the centre of Germany's golden generation alongside NBA talents Franz Wagner and Isaac Bonga.
